Rental terms and conditions
These Rental Terms and Conditions apply to all vehicle rentals made through Happycampers.no and form part of the rental agreement between Ayouchi AS (organisation number 935 727 219), trading as Happycampers, and the renter.
1. Rental Agreement
1.1. By renting a vehicle from Happycampers, the renter enters into a rental agreement subject to these Terms and Conditions.
1.2. The rental agreement becomes binding when Happycampers has issued a booking confirmation following successful completion of the checkout process.
2. Eligibility
2.1. The renter and all additional drivers must be at least 23 years of age and hold a valid Category B driving licence accepted for driving in Norway throughout the rental period.
2.2. Only drivers approved by Happycampers and listed in the rental agreement may drive the vehicle.
3. Payment and Security Deposit
3.1. Payment for the rental must be completed at the time of booking using one of the payment methods available during the online checkout process.
3.2. A refundable security deposit of NOK 5,000 is required for all rentals and is payable during checkout.
3.3. The security deposit will be refunded within 14 days after the end of the rental period, provided that the vehicle has been returned, inspected, and all known outstanding charges have been accounted for.
3.4. Happycampers may deduct documented costs from the security deposit, including but not limited to:
- Damage to the vehicle or equipment
- Missing equipment
- Excessive cleaning
- Missing fuel
- Late return charges
- Toll charges
- Ferry crossings registered through AutoPASS
- Parking charges
- Traffic fines
- Any other documented costs for which the renter is responsible under these Terms and Conditions
3.5. If additional charges become known after the security deposit has been refunded, Happycampers reserves the right to issue an additional claim to the renter.
3.6. Before any deduction is made from the security deposit, the renter will be informed of the claim and provided with relevant documentation.
3.7. The security deposit does not limit the renter’s financial liability. If the renter is responsible for costs exceeding the deposit amount, the renter remains liable for paying the remaining balance.
4. Rental Period
4.1. The rental period begins and ends on the dates and at the times specified in the rental agreement.
4.2. Any extension of the rental period is subject to availability, must be approved by Happycampers in advance, and may be subject to additional charges.
4.3. A delayed pickup caused by the renter does not automatically extend the rental period or entitle the renter to a refund.
5. Use of the Vehicle
5.1. The vehicle must be used in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and road traffic rules.
5.2. The vehicle may only be driven by approved drivers listed in the rental agreement.
5.3. The vehicle must not be used for racing, competitions, driver training, off-road driving, towing (unless approved by Happycampers), or for any unlawful purpose.
5.4. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside the vehicle.
6. Insurance and Liability
6.1. All rental vehicles are insured in accordance with Norwegian law and include compulsory third-party liability insurance and comprehensive vehicle insurance.
6.2. The renter is liable for the applicable insurance deductible in the event of damage or loss occurring during the rental period. The standard deductible for damage to the rental vehicle is NOK 12,000 per claim. Other deductibles may apply depending on the nature of the incident, including theft, windscreen damage, vandalism, roadside assistance or other insurance events.
6.3. The renter must immediately notify Happycampers of any accident, damage, theft, mechanical failure or other incident involving the vehicle. Where required by law or the insurance company, the police must also be notified.
6.4. The renter agrees to cooperate fully with Happycampers and the insurance company in the handling of any insurance claim, including providing accurate information and completing any required documentation.
6.5. The renter may be held fully liable where damage or loss results from gross negligence, intentional misconduct, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, use by an unauthorized driver, or another serious breach of these Terms and Conditions.
7. Return of the Vehicle
7.1. The vehicle must be returned to the agreed location on the agreed date and time specified in the rental agreement.
7.2. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup.
7.3. The vehicle must be returned in a reasonably clean condition. Dishes must be washed, rubbish removed, and all equipment returned to its designated place. Excessive cleaning may result in an additional cleaning charge.
7.4. Late returns may result in additional charges.
8. Cancellation and Refunds
8.1. Cancellations made more than 30 days before the start of the rental period are eligible for a full refund.
8.2. Cancellations made between 7 and 30 days before the start of the rental period are eligible for a 50% refund.
8.3. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the start of the rental period, as well as no-shows, are not eligible for a refund.
9. Amendments
9.1. Any changes to a confirmed booking, including changes to the rental period, vehicle, pickup or return location, or additional services, are subject to availability, must be approved by Happycampers, and may be subject to additional charges.
10. Governing Law
10.1. These Terms and Conditions and the rental agreement are governed by the laws of Norway.
10.2. Any disputes arising from the rental agreement shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts.
