About the van
Happy 1 is a Peugeot Expert (2013) with a reliable diesel engine, easy to drive and perfect for discovering both city streets and quiet nature spots.
Practical information
⛽ Fuel & driving
- Registration number: VH48711
- Fuel type: Diesel
- Refill before return (same level as pick-up)
- Front lights: In Norway we drive with the lights on at all times.
- Gas for cooking: If you need more gas canisters, buy more at Biltema or Jula. (Google it)
- Charge the extra battery: The fridge and the lights in the van runs on an extra battery (located under the bed). This will be charged when you drive the van, but if you are parked somewhere for a longer period, you need to plug a charger to the car. The charger (green cord) is located together with the extra battery. Plug in on the back, left side of the van.
- Drive gently and follow traffic regulationsThe alcohol limit for driving in Norway is 0,2‰ (Basically nothing, and breathalyzers are common!)It is illegal to use your phone handheld while driving in Norway.
- Always double-check height when entering parking garages
- The car is insured if anything should happen. Contact me on WhatsApp as soon as possible!
- Follow the speed limits. I will not pay for your fines! ?
? GPS Tracking (Abax)
- The vehicle is equipped with an ABAX tracking device for safety and insurance.
- It tracks location, driving behavior and driving time.
- This is standard for rental vehicles in Norway and ensures that you are covered in case of theft, accident or breakdown.
? Road tolls in Norway (Bompenger)
- Norway has automatic toll stations – no stopping.
- The van has a registration device on the front windshield.
- Some ferries also uses the registration device for payment. (The device is called “Autopass”
- Toll combined costs of the tolls will be billed after the trip and deducted from the security deposit. (or invoiced if needed)
Heater
In the car there is a diesel heater. Use the panel on the wall to start and stop and to regulate the temperature. In case empty you can fill diesel at the gas station.
When starting the heater it can smell the first minutes. This is normal and will stop in few minutes.
Tent
You can use the tent by attaching it at the rear of the car and use the poles, wires and hooks in the ground.
? Cleaning & return
- Please return the van as clean and tidy as possible. (There are some cleaning supplies in the van)
- Remove all trash and personal belongings
- Fill it up with diesel
- Let me know if anything breaks or malfunctions – accidents happen!
? Where to Buy Groceries
- Rema 1000, Kiwi, Coop Extra – affordable and common grocery stores.
- Meny, Coop Mega – more variety, slightly more expensive.
Opening hours: Most are open 07:00–23:00 on weekdays.
Closed on Sundays except small kiosks/gas stations (like Bunnpris or Joker in tourist areas).
? Where to Buy Car & Camping Equipment
- Biltema – Tools, camping gear, car supplies. Great value. (Here is where the gas canisters are from)
- Clas Ohlson – Electronics, gadgets, light camping gear.
- Jula – Similar to Biltema, often has good outdoor equipment.
- Sport shops (XXL, Intersport) – Sleeping bags, hiking gear etc.
Search “Biltema” or “Clas Ohlson” on Google Maps – they are in most towns.
Wild camping is allowed (Allemannsretten), but follow the rules:
- Stay 150 meters away from houses
- No camping in protected areas
- Leave no trash
- Weather changes fast – always bring warm clothes and rain gear.

These numbers are free of charge and work even without a local SIM card.
